FISH ON FRIDAY are made up of William Beckers – Keyboards & Drums and Frank Van Bogaert. They’re located in Aartselaar, Antwerpen Belgium. The band plays excellent crossover progressive music accessible to both pop and prog music listeners. In 2010 they released their first album “Shoot The Moon”. Earlier this year FISH ON FRIDAY released their highly accliamed second album “AIRBORNE”. Among the guest musicians on the album is Nick Beggs, who palyed in Kajagoogoo back in the eighties. Nowadays he tours with Steve Hackett and Steven Wilson. The band announced that on their forthcoming album Theo Travis (King Crimson, Porcupine Tree) will contribute. We’re proud to have William and Frank in show this week. They promisted to give away a few CD’s to listeners of Paperlate. The interviews will be in the Dutch language, but we’ll switch to English when the band is going to give away autographed CD’s, so also international listeners will have the chance to obtain a CD.

English Prog legends MAGENTA just released their sixth studio album. Magenta’s leader ROB REED feted the new album as the bands best ever album. It took three years (some sources even state that it was five years) to make this masterpiece. The title of the album “THE TWENTY SEVEN CLUB” refers to a large group of muscial heroes who all died at the age of 27 (Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain).

MAGENTA returned to their progressive rock roots with this album. The album is full of influences from progressive rock of the seventies. The album has the same spirit that can be heard on classic Alan Parsons Project albums, but it’s certainly not plagiary, no MAGENTA has an unique sound of its own! Not old-fashoined but impressive prog of the new century, recommended to the fans of Pink Floyd and Genesis. We agree with Rob that this is Magenta’s best album ever.

The album is released as a CD/DVD package. The DVD contains an impressive 5.1 surround mix of the album. Our advice is to listen LOUD and FREQUENTLY to the surround mix! For fanatics there’s also a double vinyl package!

MAGENTA is coming to the continent for concerts in the Spirit of 66 in Verviers on November 1st and De Boerderij in Zoetermeer the next day (November 2nd).

We’re very happy that ROB REED wants to talk with us about this new album and the coming concerts. Tune in this sunday to listen!

THE SIXXIS, an international prog ensemble based in Atlanta just returned from an European tour and they’re ready now to tour the US to promote their CD release. The Sissix were founded in 2006 and allready shared stage with Mike Portnoy’s new band The Winery Dogs, Wishbone Ash, Winger, Buck Cherry and The Adrian Belew Power Trio.

The SIXXIS are the brainchild of the lead singer Vladdy Iskhakov. They exhibit a wide range of musical influences ranging from classic, jazz and rock music coated in a powerful, heavy, seductive and emotional shell of sound reminiscent of Rush, Muse, Soundgarden, System of a Down, Kings X and Alice In Chains. Their just released CD was recorded at the Warner Brothers Studios in Nashville and produced by Grammy Award winning producer Malcolm Springer. With the help of their manager Tony Conway (Grath Brooks, Dixie Chicks, George Straight, etc) the band got signed to their first international distribution deal with WBA Records, which made the band’s first EP available for sale at all major music outlets (iTunes, Walmart, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc)

If you want to know more, tune in this week to listn to our live interview with Vladdy Iskhakov
