Composer and keyboardplayer NICK MAGNUS started his carreer in the seventies as keyboardplayer of THE ENID but he’s best known for his work with ex-Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett from 1978 to 1989. Nick played at least on twelve of Hackett’s albums and was on stage with Steve on countless tours.
Nick also did session work with and endless row of artists such as the late Pete Bardens, Brian May, Mike Batt and Collin Blunstone.
Most people will own at least one of the Celtic Dreams albums produced by Nick.

In 1994 Nick released his first solo-album and just a few weeks ago he released his fifth solo album: N’MONIX on Esoteric Antenna Records. A few of Nick’s musical friends contributed to N’MONIX: Steve Hackett, Kate Faber, Tim Bowness, Pete Hicks, Rob Townsend, Andy Neve, James Reeves and Tony Patterson.

It’s such an honour that we can do an interview with Nick in our show tomorrow!

Matt Stevens is a musician and composer from North London. An instrumental artist, he uses an acoustic guitar and sampler to create multi layered tracks live. This is often called Live Looping. His music has been described as “a guitar orchestra”. He plays live all over the UK and listens to Sonic Youth, Carcass, Nick Drake, Cardiacs and King Crimson.

Matt just released his 4th album “LUCID” on Esoteric Antenna. It took three years to complete this masterpiece. An impressive list of guest-musicians appear on the album, among them are at Mastelotto (King Crimson),Lorenzo Feliciati (Naked Truth) and Jem Godfrey (Frost). The result is an impressive album with influences of prog-heroes like King Crimson and Jethro Tull.

Tomorrow in Paperate a live interview with Matt Stevens about his carreer so far, his new album and his future plans.

This Sunday at 20:30 hours, Dutch Time a live interview with Simone Rossetti from The Watch to promote their Dutch tour dates and their new album “Tracks from the Alps”

THE WATCH is a 5 piece band from Milan, Italy. Their music is inspired by the classic style prog of the 70’s and in particular by the music of Genesis. The band’s first album, Ghost, was released in 2001, followed in 2004 by Vacuum and in 2007 by Primitive. In 2009 the band released it’s first live album, called The Watch live. Melody and energy are the main features of The Watch music and live performance one of their strengths. All their energy and inspiration comes out on stage as a confirmation of how much they believe in what they do. The line up of the band has changed several times through the years. Simone Rossetti, founder and main composer is the singer of the band since the very start. Since the end of 2008, according to Simone Rossetti the band has it’s best line up ever and activity is growing all the time.

Since 2009 they are involved in long tours, touching Europe, Canada and USA and playing shows inspired to Genesis albums and The Watch own music

In 2010 they have released another album called “Planet Earth” which has gained a very good reputation all over the prog and rock world. in 2011 they have released “Timeless” a kind of experiment, where the band has rivisited some themes from the From Genesis to revelation album and adding some original music too into it.

The Watch just released a new studio album “TRACKS FROM THE ALPS” and is visiting our country soon. We’re happy to be one of the first to give airplay to this new album and to talk again with our dedecated friend and great musician Simone Rossetti.

regal worm

The debut album of REGAL WORM “Use and ornament” released in december 2013 is perhaps the most adventurous prog release from last year. Yes we love the mix of psychedelic rock / jazz / post-punk that develops a musical soundscape that sounds somewere between Genesis and Poisoned Electric Head with a jot of Miles Davis in his electric period. If you didn’t hear this very refreshing album yet, then listen to our show this week. On sunday January 18 we have an interview with JARROD GOSLING, the musical brain of REGAL WORM. He’s also a member of HENRY FOOL and takes the lead on REAL WORM’S debut on mellotron, hammond, bass, guitars, synthesizer, glockenspiel and a lot more instruments.

Celtic proggers IONA will visit our country next week for one the few live appearances in 2014. They’re playing a one off live album launch concert on 19th January at De Troubador in Hardenburg, Netherlands. The band started 2014 with the release of a new live 2CD: “Edge of the world”.

We’re happy to announce that we can talk with the man who plays guitar in Iona since 1989: Dave Bainbridge. Tune in on Sunday January 12 for the first tracks from “Edge of the World” and a live interview by phone with Dave.

They’re one of most succesfull prog bands from this moment. Cosidered not only by us but also by many other prog fans as the successors of Pink Floyd.
The story of Mostly Autum started in the last years of the last century. In 2002 it was time to do a small tour on the continent. The band visited Paperlate’s home-town Bergen op Zoom for an instore gig in record shop “De waterput” and a recording session for Paperlate that same evening in the BRTO-studio.
Paperlate was the first radioshow outside the UK that had the honour to air a live session by Mostly Autumn. During the years we kept in contact with the band and had several interviews. Tomorrow we have another interview, this time with Brian and Olivia! We’re looking foreward to this!

Mostly Autum will be playing a very special Christmas show in Gebouw T in Bergen op Zoom on December 13. For this special occasion the Paperlate Road Show will be back after 10 years of absense to take care of the music in Gebouw T before and after the concert.

Tune in sunday to hear Brian and Olivia talk about the Christmas show and other things and off-course to listen to the music of Mostly Autumn, including some highlits from the session recorded for our show in 2002.

We’re very proud to announce that we will do an interview tomorrow with Adam Hodgson of the UK chart-topping progband TOUCHSTONE.
Touchstone was founded at the beginning of this millenium. Adam was allready a bandmember in the early days. The band’s first release was the EP “Mad Hatters” back in 2006. A month back Touchstone released their fourth full-lengt studio album “Oceans of time” on Cherry Red.The first week after it’s release the album entered the UK rock album charts.
Touchstone is often compared to other UK progbands with female vocalists such as Mostly Autumn and Magenta, but their music is more rock orientated and more guitar driven. When a comparison is made not only on the excellent vocals of Kim Seviour, but also on the strong compositions and Adam’s virtuoso guitar playing, then they come close to Led Zeppelin. Just as Zep Touchstone is a band that should be seen on stage. They just did some gigs in their homecountry to promote their new album and announced to release a live DVD. We’re all lookin’ foreward to the release of the DVD and we wonder when they will be visiting the European Mainland again. Perhaps Adam can tell this tomorrow….
