Composer and keyboardplayer NICK MAGNUS started his carreer in the seventies as keyboardplayer of THE ENID but he’s best known for his work with ex-Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett from 1978 to 1989. Nick played at least on twelve of Hackett’s albums and was on stage with Steve on countless tours.
Nick also did session work with and endless row of artists such as the late Pete Bardens, Brian May, Mike Batt and Collin Blunstone.
Most people will own at least one of the Celtic Dreams albums produced by Nick.

In 1994 Nick released his first solo-album and just a few weeks ago he released his fifth solo album: N’MONIX on Esoteric Antenna Records. A few of Nick’s musical friends contributed to N’MONIX: Steve Hackett, Kate Faber, Tim Bowness, Pete Hicks, Rob Townsend, Andy Neve, James Reeves and Tony Patterson.

It’s such an honour that we can do an interview with Nick in our show tomorrow!

Matt Stevens is a musician and composer from North London. An instrumental artist, he uses an acoustic guitar and sampler to create multi layered tracks live. This is often called Live Looping. His music has been described as “a guitar orchestra”. He plays live all over the UK and listens to Sonic Youth, Carcass, Nick Drake, Cardiacs and King Crimson.

Matt just released his 4th album “LUCID” on Esoteric Antenna. It took three years to complete this masterpiece. An impressive list of guest-musicians appear on the album, among them are at Mastelotto (King Crimson),Lorenzo Feliciati (Naked Truth) and Jem Godfrey (Frost). The result is an impressive album with influences of prog-heroes like King Crimson and Jethro Tull.

Tomorrow in Paperate a live interview with Matt Stevens about his carreer so far, his new album and his future plans.

In our show from Sunday, March 17, we’ll have an interview with OLIVER WAKEMAN.

OLIVER WAKEMAN just released an album he made toghether with the legendary guitarplayer GORDON GILTRAP. The title of the albums RAVENS & LULLABIES, it was released on March 4 on Esoteric Antenna. It’s the first studio album from Oliver since he left YES. On one of the tracks another ex Yes-member can be heard on vocals: BENOIT DAVID. The album was mixed and mastered by no one less than KARL GROOM. The albums is a 13 song collection of hard hitting memorable rock pieces coupled with thought provoking lyrics alongside acoustic duets featuring their fine instrumental interplay. Gordon and Oliver spent 2012 writing and recording the album which features a return for Gordon to his rock roots following a 30 year absence.

Also available is a limited signed 2 disc edition, this features a Bonus CD of live recordings taken from Gordon and Oliver’s 2012 tour and re-recordings of pieces from Oliver and Gordon’s past catalogue.

Ravens and Lullabies sees a host of respected musicians joining Gordon and Oliver in the studio. Vocalist Paul Manzi has performed with the Oliver Wakeman Band for the last 6 years (appearing on the live DVD ‘Coming to Town’) and is the current vocalist for the rock band Arena. Steve Amadeo is an in demand Jazz/Blues/Rock session bass player, is currently performing with Blues guitarist Aynsley Lister and Johanne James has been the drummer for Threshold for the last 12 years. The album also features a special vocal appearance by Benoit David, Oliver’s old band mate from Yes, on the track ‘From the Turn of a Card’ written by Oliver during the Yes recording sessions of 2010.

Gordon Giltrap says “Working with Oliver is like a breath of fresh air. I knew of his reputation as a fine musician, and it made perfect sense for me to tap into his creative energy, not only to bring out certain elements of my musical gifts but to create something new and exciting, whilst giving a nod in the direction of our respective Progressive Rock roots”. Oliver Wakeman adds, “After working with YES, the chance of working with another legendary artist was an opportunity too good to miss. I am having a wonderfully productive time working with Gordon and feel we are creating something genuinely unique in our ‘Ravens & Lullabies’ project.” Many of Gordon’s fans have been asking for years when he is going to return to his rock roots and others wondered what Oliver would write after the Yes experiences. ‘Ravens & Lullabies’ provides the answer.

The legendary GREG LAKE (founder member of King Crimson and Emerson Lake and Palmer) just released an new album titled “Songs of a lifetime” on Esoteric Antenna. We’re so happy that Greg wants to do an interview by phone for our show on Sunday, March 10. In that same show, well have an interview with Thomas Jonsson from the British / Swedish prog band Thieves Kitchen, this band just released the album “One for Sorrow, two for Joy”. Thomas is also a member of Änglagård.

Some more information about "Songs of a lifetime":
Greg Lake has been a major creative force in music for over 40 years. In 2012 he embarked on a solo tour to perform "Songs of a Lifetime”, a unique concert experience that was conceived whilst Greg was writing his autobiography. "From time to time during the writing these songs would crop up that were in some way crucial or extremely important in the development of my career” he explains. "These were not always songs that I had written myself, but sometimes songs that had been written and performed by other artists as well. I realised that they actually represented the journey that I had shared together with the audience over all these years.”

Behind these songs there was often a story to be told and it occurred to me that the same must be true for the audience as well. It was then that I thought of the idea of doing a series of very small intimate concerts where I could perform these songs and exchange stories with the audience, in a way reliving the time when the music we shared together really became part of our identity and in a way became the backdrop to our lives, a sort of tapestry I suppose.

These recordings were taken from a selection of the shows performed on the tour”. The album is a unique record of a unique live experience from one of the legendary figures in Rock music.
